Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar matematika SMP kelas VIII semester 1 yang valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan karakter dan higher order thinking skill (HOTS) siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, yaitu tahap pendahuluan, tahap pembuatan, dan tahap pengembangan. Tahap pendahuluan dilakukan analisis konteks dan masalah, kajian pustaka, dan perumusan tujuan pembelajaran, tahap pembuatan terdiri atas penyusunan instrumen tes, penentuan: media, strategi, dan materi pembelajaran, dan penyusunan desain awal produk, dan pada tahap pengembangan, dilakukan tiga siklus evaluasi formatif, yakni: uji coba produk, evaluasi, dan revisi produk. Understanding by Design: Complete Collection
This is an eight week unit for freshman students on a daily 45 minute schedule; it is intended for the Pre-AP level. This unit focuses on personal/hidden agendas in writing, using characterization to find theme and purpose, evaluating/changing first impressions, and writing sophisticated literary analysis. The transfer project has students apply the knowledge and skills they have learned to make a first impression of a political candidate, evaluate that first impression by analyzing research consisting of non-fiction literature and videos, and write an analysis of the research and the character of the political candidate.

Character Traits In Caldecott Award-Winning Literature From 2002-2012: A Content Analysis, Staci Wagner

This study examined children's books that were honored with the Randolph Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished American picture book from 2002-2012, in an attempt to analyze examples of character elements in these books. Modeled after two previous dissertations in which Newbery books were analyzed, I used similar methodology to further their research to books honored with the Caldecott Medal. Therefore, content analysis was used to determine the presence of the sample character traits, following the acronym C.H.A.R.A.C.T.E.R., developed by researcher Bryant (2008). The history of the United States demonstrates a complicated relationship between civil or national religion and the formation of the common schools. This dissertation uses purposive sampling, survey methodology and description research of a local, public school district with noted high scores on character education. The research uses a Likert scale to document educators' perception of success or failure of character education in relation to religion. In the school district, four schools were chosen for their high scores in character education implementation.
