Attempts at articulating and instituting socially responsive programs in art education are heartening and long overdue. The work of the Caucus on Social Theory and Art Education and the Bulletin as a reflection of the issues dealt with by the caucus, are laudatory and provocative. This project provides a notebook of useful information to be used by substitute teachers in Kennewick School District. The intent was to provide a notebook of routine activities, programs and procedures to improve conmiunication between substitutes and regular teachers. By standardizing the notebook's usage throughout the district and organizing the information exactly the same in each notebook, the substitute can quickly gain the information necessary to carry out the teacher's plans and maintain a smooth operating learning environment.

These youth employment competencies materials were developed for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction by the Employment and Training Institute for juvenile offenders in the Wisconsin correctional facilities. The curriculum is in the same areas and format specified by the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) and focuses on basic skills and survival skills which have been identified as necessary to perform as effective adults. They draw on several nationally recognized research efforts, including the Adult Performance Level Project of the University of Texas and Project Basic from the Maryland State Department of Education.
