This autoethnographic study seeks to explain how my "lived experiences" both personal and academic have had a profound effect on the course of my life. Autoethnography has allowed me to utilize "reflexivity, multiple voices, and introspection" to "invoke" readers to enter into my "emergent experience" of doing and writing research. As a first generation, Latina, migrant, high school dropout, I was destined to fail according to research. Through the use of testimonies, I have inscribed the struggles and understanding, creating new knowledge, and affirming my epistemology by writing about what I know best, "familia, barrio, life experiences." This qualitative research study seeks to identify if peer support groups for parents with children who have disabilities are beneficial to the parents’ physical and emotional well-being. Previous literature has shown that parents of children with disabilities feel more knowledgeable, accepted, and empowered when they are able to share their successes and struggles with parents who are in similar situations. Furthermore, the literature also shows that when parents are actively involved with their child’s school, other parents, and their community, their children earn higher grades, attend school more often, have better social skills, and are more likely to attend college …

This synthetic literature review examines the characteristics of sibling configurations— which refer to the ordinal position of siblings, age spacing, and sex composition—in a traditional family setting. A general review of the literature on sibling configurations and relationships is presented, and their potential roles in the development of personality traits, self-concept and identity, and career choices are explored. This synthesis describes how sibling birth rank is affiliated with generalized personality traits and likelihood of siblings with these traits identifying with corresponding career interest-types associated with Holland’s vocational theory.
