The research question addressed in this project was: How will intentional movement and mindfulness opportunities in a kindergarten classroom impact the classroom environment, student behavior, and student achievement? The stress, emotional and behavioral management, self-regulation skills, and mental health of the students in her classroom led the author to research topics of the brain and movement, classroom environment and student wellbeing, the effects movement has on student achievement, examples of schools implementing movement and mindfulness, and yoga and mindfulness programs and curriculums. Physical activity is essential for developing youth to help build their muscles and develop their brains. Though research verifies the importance of movement for health, school systems require very little activity. This capstone uses a compilation of studies from doctors and scientists on physical activity and brain development. The study also incorporates real experiences of teachers adding physical activity in their own curriculum. The collection of this research helps to answer the question, How does physical activity impact academic performance of elementary students? The research question addressed in this study used a researcher created pre- and post- google survey to investigated eighth grade student reaction to the PACER fitness test after a stretching intervention. Topics explored in the review of the literature include different types of stretching, effects of stretching, history of fitness testing, new approaches to fitness testing, fitness and academic success and the decline of Physical Education. The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes of Saudi teachers towards teaching PE for girls at public schools in Jeddah city and to explore the factors that may affect these attitudes. The researcher explored the reasons behind the PE ban for girls in these schools. The number of participants was Four hundred and sixty-two teachers who completed the survey (N = 462). T-Test and One-Way ANNOVA were the two methods to analyze the data collected.

This thesis explores the implications physical activity has on academic outcomes for students. Current research is reviewed to provide an overview of what movement opportunities are already being implemented in schools. Reviewed research discusses the need and impact movement has on the brain and the body. The research also explores limitations and barriers schools, teachers, and students are encountering that makes having physical education programs difficult as well as why the provision of physical activity through interventions in the classroom is challenging. The objective of this study was to explore the perceptions physical educators had of a phenomenon: professional development (PD). Specifically, the study sought to understand the following question: how do physical educators perceive PD?
