Relationships Among Classroom Technology Utilization, Professional Development, And Knowledge About Technology For Secondary Teachers, Stacy L. King
Doctoral Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of technology professional development for secondary teachers toward the usage of that technology in the classroom to assist with the teaching/learning process. This research also examined the effects of knowledge about technology for secondary teachers on the utilization of technology in the classroom. A Technology Integrated Curriculum For An 8th Grade History/Civics Class, Kathy Colleen Chavez
All Graduate Projects
To ensure educational technology is used effectively, educators must put together a curriculum that will encourage students to ask questions and think about what they need to learn (Schrum, 2003). Educators must value the exploration that technology lends itself to and realize it can be a vital teaching tool. They must seek out professional development in the use of appropriate technology and become models of life-long learning for their students. In using technology within the classroom, educators must become comfmiable with and then develop ways technology can enhance what they teach (Schrum, 2003). This project's goal was to develop a …

Imbedding New Technologies Into Current Practice: A Guide For Administrators Of Physical Education, Thomas J. Haeck
All Graduate Projects
Many new technologies are available to the Physical Education teacher, yet few are commonly used. This project contains findings from a review of literature regarding Physical Education technology use in today's schools. The guidelines presented in this project were designed to facilitate the integration of Physical Education technology into the schools curriculum. The project was designed with the fundamentals of the constructivist classroom in mind, as well as including all students in the process. Students from historically marginalized groups, low socio-economic status, high and low achieving students, students with physical exceptionalities and special education students were all included in this …

Improving Basic Organic Chemistry Skills Among High School Chemistry Students Through The Use Of A Webquest, Jill Elizabeth Nation
Theses Digitization Project
The purpose of the project was to develop an Internet resource for high school teachers who teach higher level chemistry, which includes organic chemistry. This Organic Chemistry WebQuest will foster a student-directed learning environment that will enable students to do two things: (1) students will learn basic and organic chemistry nomenclature and be able to write chemical equations involving organic molecules, and (2) students will be able to use various technologies to present items to their peers and others.
Ict Integration To Second-Level Schools, Maria Hartnett
Ict Integration To Second-Level Schools, Maria Hartnett
Theses
An in-depth questionnaire was sent to the twenty seven second level schools in Kerry. Results were then analysed and compared to similar results obtained by Aidan Mulkeen in his statistical report of the ICT 2002 Survey. An online class on Preparing for College was designed and developed. This class was delivered to three second level schools in Kerry who had shown an interest in taking part. None of the three schools had the ICT facilities required to accommodate such a learning environment. All students were required to fill out an online questionnaire in order to determine their reaction to the …
The Construction And Maintenance Of A School Intranet Based Discipline Monitoring System : Design Development And Implementation Using Open Source Software Mysql, Php And Apache, Seán Geary
Theses
This aim of this project is to build a School Discipline Database, which will record and display student breaches of discipline, using dynamic web pages. Management presently implements a school discipline system based on the issuing of Yellow or Red cards to students, depending on the gravity of the offence. A student incurs detention, when 3 Yellow Card offences for general misbehaviour or 1 Red Card offence for serious misbehaviour occurs. The database is created and populated using open source software MySQL, PHP and Apache. A database driven web site allows the content of the site to reside in a …

The Interactive Question Protocol: Examining The Relationship Between Feedback, Cognitive Development And Student Achievement, G. Simon Richmond
Theses and Dissertations in Urban Services - Urban Education
Feedback is an essential component of effective learning. The advent of the internet as a delivery mode for distance education has expanded the access many people have to higher learning. Despite many advantages that online courses provide for distance learning students, they often lack real time feedback. A software intervention called the Interactive Question Protocol was designed for this study to provide automated, real time feedback. That treatment was then contrasted against changes in student achievement, satisfaction and participation. Learners can be categorized by Perry's scheme of mental maturity according to how they understand and interpret the knowledge they acquire. …
