We are living in an information based society that has resulted in the availability of new technology for use by students and teachers. The video camera is an ideal tool for disseminating information and teaching skills; it is easy to use, produces immediate results and feedback, and catches the students' attention in an instant. Yet, many teachers shy away from incorporating the video camera as a part of their classroom curriculum. Some are wary of the camera itself. The Effects Of Freewriting On High School Students’ Attitudes Toward Writing, Dana L. Thomas

This paper investigates the hypothesis that freewriting, when used as part of the writing process, will lead to more positive attitudes toward writing in a sample of advanced tenth grade students. An additional issue focuses on the level of positive attitudes of males when compared to females. Two intact classrooms taught by one teacher wrote weekly papers. The experimental group wrote freely, while the control group was restricted in topic choice, length and form of their writing. The experimental group received positive comments on the content of their writing, but the control group received standard error corrections on their writing. …

This study was designed to determine what factors sixth grade teachers from selected sixth grade centers identified as the reasons for the variations between academic achievement, or teacher assigned grades, and standardized test scores for sixth grade students. Thirty-two teachers participated in a questionnaire survey that was specifically designed, through the use of research, for this study. The questionnaire was divided into four main categories. The categories were: Home Related Problems, Socio-economic Status, Child Related Problems, and Teacher Related Problems. The teachers ranked the factors in degrees from five to one. The ranked numbers were totaled -and averaged. The teachers' …

This study identifies and evaluates sources of information on microcomputer software and provides a partial listing of appropriate software which is ava1lable, along with partial listings ot courseware publishers and publications carrying information on
m1crocomputer software. Criteria tor self-evaluation of courseware are suggested and recommendations are made tor insuring accessibility of resources to teachers within a school system.

This study was developed for the teacher who may have limited resources in music education. The purpose of this study was to design a curriculum in music education for the intermediate grades so that a non-music major teacher could easily instruct music lessons. The characteristics of musical growth have been outlined and research has been shown to support the musical characteristics. A set of objectives has been formed as the foundation for teaching music to children of the intermediate grades. One purpose of this paper was to investigate differences between gifted students' attitudes toward school according to assignment to self-contained or resource gifted classes. The other purpose was to investigate differences in knowledge of gifted and positive attitudes of the students' parents and school staff. The students' attitudes were measured using Hogan's Survey of School attitudes with local items added. No significant differences were found in attitudes toward reading/language arts, science, mathematics or social studies. For approximately seven years, the number of Black students enrolled in upper-level science courses (e.g., Chemistry, Human Physiology, Physics) is proportionately lower than the number of non-Black students a.t Palatka South High School, Palatka, Florida.
On the surface, this low enrollment appears to coincide with the fact that there are more non-Black students than Black students enrolled in the school. However, if one were to examine closely the total number of Black students enrolled in upperlevel science courses from the school's total Black student population enrolled in science classes, and compare it to the school's total non-Black population enrolled in …
