Indirectly And Directly Involved Students' Perspectives On Multi-Modal Communication Treatment In Persons With Aphasia, Emily Lewis

Honors Theses

Our study investigated the perspectives of students who were either directly or indirectly involved in the Multi-modal communication treatment (MCT) sessions for persons with aphasia. Two undergraduate and two graduate students were recruited from the University of Mississippi who participated in the MCT sessions. We collected their perspectives through semi-structured interviews and used thematic qualitative analysis to analyze our data. We reported themes from the indirectly involved students and the directly involved students and compared how the themes were similar and different between the indirectly and directly involved students. We discussed that both direct and indirect experience for clinical therapy …

The project has several goals, which will be described in more detail throughout the rest of this paper. One such goal is to create a web resource for teachers that is designed to be suited towards students with ASD. The website will contain an overview of my research and analysis, as well as access to sample lesson plans. The purpose of the website is to bridge a gap …

Project-Based Learning In The Mathematics Classroom, Emily Gay Jan 2022

Project-Based Learning In The Mathematics Classroom, Emily Gay

Honors Theses

The literature is saturated with examples of project-based learning (PBL) in other fields (e.g. science, nursing). However, examples of PBL that are specific to mathematics are limited. Furthermore, often mathematics projects or problems were mislabeled as PBL when in fact they are ProbBL. Herein, I will expose and correct the misapplication of PBL; at the same time, I will explore its many benefits, including the factors that determine its success. I provide examples of PBL in mathematics. Based on the literature review findings, I have developed a mathematics unit that implements PBL using the necessary factors. The unit I wrote …
