"'Proof-Revising" With Podcasting: Keeping Readers In Mind As Students Listen To And Rethink Their Writing., Ann Davis, Ewa Mcgrail

This article describes a process for proofreading with podcasting for elementary and middle school bloggers. The podcasting technology engages two senses, hearing and seeing. In addition, the audio and text are merged through the voice of a reader, rather than that of the student. Proofreading in this way is used not as a final step to check primarily for errors but rather as a more complex literacy that includes writing, higher-order thinking, and learning to identify with the audience and their needs as readers. Further to Tinker Sachs (2007), this paper reports on the development of taskbased learning and teaching (TBLT) within a cooperative learning (CL) and teacher action research context. The three-year longitudinal project involved 12 teachers and their students from 3 government primary schools in Hong Kong. When innovative ways of teacher professional development in language teaching are fostered, a great deal of teacher and learner risk-taking is necessary for teaching and learning success.
