The start of each school year should be one of excitement and joy for learning. However, year to year, there is one subject that elementary students and their teachers dread: math. This study focused on collecting data from teaching candidates on their math self-efficacy beliefs and the perceived competence in their ability to implement three specific high-leverage practices (HLPs) during student teaching.

This qualitative case study explores the experiences of teaching candidates enrolled in a university teacher preparation program. Within previous method courses, content focused on the planning, instruction, and assessment of high-leverage practices. The overarching question of this study …

There are a variety of ways to identify a student who may have a specific learning disability in math, or who is just struggling with math. Whether it is cognitive, social / behavioral, or physical characteristics, or through assessment, all these students have one common need, they need a strong intervention to improve their mathematical skills. This intervention should be one that is research-based and supports students who are struggling with math or have a math learning disability. The purpose of this research study was to report the effect social scripts have on the ability to increase communication and understanding during partner work in math for students with autism. The study was made up of 9 participants, all of whom were enrolled in the same special education pull out math class. Research Topic: The topic I researched is assignment grading techniques. I would studied which type of grading works best for students to learn.

Participants: Participants in this study came from a lower class public middle school and high school. The population is 90% white with 60% of students qualifying for free and reduced lunches. The size of the study will be approximately 15 students in the 9th grade. 65% of the students come from a single parent home or have divorced parents.
