This qualitative case study explored the perceptions and practices of three teachers who teach social justice concepts in kindergarten and 2nd-grade classrooms in an urban school district in the Northwest region of the United States. The research sought to answer the following central questions: (a) What do teachers perceive about how instruction on social justice concepts impact early grade learners in classroom settings? This case study examines factors that support guided reading instruction to foster motivation in seventh and eighth grade readers. Teacher-Student Relationships And How They Encourage Mathematics Achievement Among Black Males, Makeba C. Butler

This research study focuses on positive teacher-student relationships and how these relationships influence the mathematics achievement of African American elementary male students. It identifies some of the characteristics relevant to the establishment and cultivation of the teacher-student relationship and sheds useful insights into how African American male students respond to the interactions with their teachers. Extant literature has increasingly shown that positive-teacher student relationships significantly shape academic progress in Black students. Teacher Perceptions Of An Evaluation Process: A Qualitative Case Study, Lisa M. Puckett

The purpose of this study was to explore teachers’ perceptions of the evaluation system currently used in their district. This study was guided by the following research question: How do teachers perceive the teacher evaluation process in a Midwestern Teacher and student Advancement Program (TAP) school? The theoretical foundations used in this study were Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory and Kirkpatrick’s four levels of evaluating training programs. Teachers’ Perceptions Of Their Practices Related To Implementing A Pbis Plan In The Intermediate Grade Levels, Tonnett Davis

The objective of this dissertation is to explore how preservice training impact teachers’ perceptions of their practices related to implementing a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) plan in intermediate grade levels. This was accomplished through qualitative methods of data collection and analysis, namely surveys, interviews, and focus groups. Participants attended two focus group meetings during the study to express their concerns and receive information on the data of the pretest and posttest surveys. Interviews were conducted with three of the ten participants for more in-depth investigation of teachers’ perceptions. The findings showed a strong connection between providing a preservice …
