The purpose of this study was to compare the achievement of a control group of children taught addition and subtraction of fractions in the traditional way with that of an experimental group taught by the Scott, Foresman approach. The factors under consideration were the ability to perform the basic operations required in adding and subtracting fractions, and the retention of ability to perform these skills.

In view of today's emphasis on the need for physical strength, and the concern of the leaders of the Physical Education progression for greater physical fitness of our youth, the author felt more research should be conducted which might indicate ways of building strength. It was the purpose of this study to compare the results of selected isotonic exercises (weight lifting) with selected isometric exercises against a control group as means of building strength.
