It is the purpose of this project to provide a transition from the traditional classroom into an open classroom through the use of modular group-oriented and individualized learning centers. The transitional approach is designed to assist the student to assume responsibilities needed to function successfully and comfortably in a new school environment, the open classroom.

This project was to develop a song-story for second grade from William Steig's story, Sylvester And The Magic Pebble. A song-story is a narrative in which part of the plot is told in song. The songs enhance and interpret the feeling or emotion of the story. The purpose of this project was to create a medium for learning in language arts, music, and art; to elevate the self-image of the children who need it; and to provide a rewarding experience that would bring enjoyment and satisfaction to the children.

The objective of this project is to develop a simple to read, easy to use, low cost program to teach ruler skills to one-fourth (1/4) inch. The program is one that the students are placed into and can progress at their own learning rate-child directed. Also, the program is to be of a manner that is straight forward and easy to follow so the reader does not have to spend time sifting through non-essential materials.
