“Does Increased Online Interaction Between Instructors And Students Positively Affect A Student’S Perception Of Quality For An Online Course?”, Jennifer Hunter Dr, Brayden Ross
Journal on Empowering Teaching Excellence
Online education is increasing as a solution to manage increasing enrollment numbers at higher education institutions. Intentionally and thoughtfully constructed courses allow students to improve performance through practice and self-assessment and instructors benefit from improving consistency in providing content and assessing process, performance, and progress.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of student to instructor interaction on the student’s perception of quality for an online course. “Does increased online interaction between instructors and students positively affect a student’s perception of quality for an online course?”
The study included over 1200 courses over a three year time …

Identifying Faculty And Peer Interaction Patterns Of First-Year Biology Doctoral Students: A Latent Class Analysis, Soojeong Jeong, Jennifer M. Blaney, David F. Feldon
Identifying Faculty And Peer Interaction Patterns Of First-Year Biology Doctoral Students: A Latent Class Analysis, Soojeong Jeong, Jennifer M. Blaney, David F. Feldon
Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences Faculty Publications
Faculty and peer interactions play a key role in shaping graduate student socialization. Yet, within the literature on graduate student socialization, researchers have primarily focused on understanding the nature and impact of faculty alone, and much less is known about how peer interactions also contribute to graduate student outcomes. Using a national sample of first-year biology doctoral students, this study reveals distinct categories that classify patterns of faculty and peer interaction. Further, we document inequities such that certain groups (e.g., underrepresented minority students) report constrained types of interactions with faculty and peers. Finally, we connect faculty and peer interaction patterns …

Teaching A Second Language: Communication, Culture, And Collaboration, Diannylín Núñez De Paulino
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
This portfolio presents the author’s perspectives on the effective use of language teaching techniques, practices, and tools. Towards A Classroom Community: Interaction, Culture And Mindfulness In Second Language Learning, Janae Suzanne Hollenback
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
This portfolio is a compilation of the author’s works while a student in the Master of Second Language Teaching Program at Utah State University. The core of this work is the Teaching Philosophy, which is prefaced with the author’s observations of “what works” and “what doesn’t work” in education based on her experience as a student. This is followed by a brief description of the author’s intended professional environment. The Teaching Philosophy itself explores various research and other influences which have inspired the author’s direction and preferences for effective language teaching. The three artifacts in this portfolio constitute the author’s …
Interaction, Internet Self-Efficacy, And Self-Regulated Learning As Predictors Of Student Satisfaction In Distance Education Courses, Yu-Chun Kuo
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Online learning research is largely devoted to comparisons of the learning gains between face-to-face and distance students. While student learning is important, comparatively little is known about student satisfaction when engaged in online learning and what contributes to or promotes student satisfaction. Emerging research suggests there are a few strong predictors of student satisfaction, and other predictors that may or may not predict student satisfaction. None of the existing research examines predictors together, or statistically controls for course differences. This study examines the influence of various factors on student satisfaction including three types of interaction, Internet self-efficacy, and self-regulated learning. …
The Other Side Of Distance Education: Learner Interaction At Remote Sites, Beth Walden
The Other Side Of Distance Education: Learner Interaction At Remote Sites, Beth Walden
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
This dissertation describes the observations of the interaction of adult learners at remote distance education sites. The researcher audited 11 complete courses at four receive sites during two academic terms. The observations were done in the Com-Net, audio-graphic system provided by Utah State University. The courses were provided for university credit to adults around the state.
The research was designed to answer three research questions:
1. What interactions do learners at a distance exhibit in their educational setting?
2. What observable events appear to prompt the beginning and ending of the learners' interactions?
3. What observable outcomes result from the …
