There has been a large increase in number typewriting In the last decade and a half. The demand for statistical typists and other clerical positions involving the typewriting of numbers is greater than ever before. In modern business offices specialized typists are hired to prepare statis­tical reports, billings, payrolls, bookkeeping machine reports, IBM programs and general reports. There has also been an Increased use of numbers in ordinary business correspondence.

It was the purpose of this study to determine, through a cinematographical analysis, if running on a treadmill produced a change in running style or form by-comparing eleven measurements including body lean, various angles of the extremities, length of stride, and. vertical body movement.

An investigation of the literature revealed that little had been done to analyze the true mechanics of running on a treadmill. There has been a large amount of research and experimentation using treadmills in universities and industry to produce a controlled situation for physiological and kinesiological studies.

Ability grouping in one form or another has been common practice in American schools for the past one hundred years. One of the earliest attempts to provide for children of different ability levels occurred in St. Louis in 1867 (Goldberg, Passow, and Justman, 1966, p. 2). The practice reached its peak in the second and third decades of this century. Two factors were responsible for this ascendance. The intensified demand by organized teachers to participate in the formulation of policies that affect them, to bargain or negotiate collectively concerning salaries and other conditions of employment, are among the most salient problems confronting the educational enterprise. The present militancy and collective activity of teacher organizations can be viewed as a revolt against the traditional bureaucratic pattern of school organization. One means of dealing with authority and unilateral control is through bargaining and its institutionalized form -- collective negotiations.

The hypotheses of this study are:

1. The value orientations of urban Spanish American majority sophomore students are more similar to those of urban Anglo sophomore students than to the value orientations of the rural Spanish American sophomore students.

2. The value orientations of the urban Spanish American majority sophomore students are more similar to those of urban Anglo sophomore students than are the value orientations of any other sample in the present study.

3. Spanish American sophomore students vary more in their value orientations than do the Anglo sophomore students.
