Obstacles In Learning Algorithm Run-Time Complexity Analysis, Bailey Licht
Obstacles In Learning Algorithm Run-Time Complexity Analysis, Bailey Licht
Theses/Capstones/Creative Projects
Algorithm run-time complexity analysis is an important topic in data structures and algorithms courses, but it is also a topic that many students struggle with. Commonly cited difficulties include the necessary mathematical background knowledge, the abstract nature of the topic, and the presentation style of the material. Analyzing the subject of algorithm analysis using multiple learning theories shows that course materials often leave out key steps in the learning process and neglect certain learning styles. Students can be more successful at learning algorithm run-time complexity analysis if these missing stages and learning styles are addressed.
Effectiveness Of Accommodations For Students With Adhd At Uno, Kayla Farley
Effectiveness Of Accommodations For Students With Adhd At Uno, Kayla Farley
Theses/Capstones/Creative Projects
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder which can impair ability to sustain attention, inhibit impulses, plan and organize, and complete tasks. These deficits can create barriers to academic success for students with ADHD. Accommodations are often offered to alleviate these disadvantages. However, current research has called into question the effectiveness of commonly offered accommodations for students with ADHD. The purpose of this study was to determine how helpful UNO students found these accommodations and how to better help this student population. The study surveyed 27 UNO students with ADHD on their learning problems, their experiences with the accommodations and why they …
Teaching The Relationship Between Multiplication And Division Through Differentiated Instructional Strategies, Teagan Vaughan
Teaching The Relationship Between Multiplication And Division Through Differentiated Instructional Strategies, Teagan Vaughan
Theses/Capstones/Creative Projects
This capstone project reports the differentiated instructional strategies that were integrated throughout a math unit. The capstone will report the effectiveness of two instructional strategies that were integrated into a math unit that focused on students’ understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division. The math unit had 12 lessons taught over three weeks between the pre-and post-assessment. I will report how the strategies worked and the effect the strategies had on students learning. I collected and analyzed the pre/post-test data and found that nonlinguistic representations and multi-level questioning are effective instructional strategies for increasing student learning.

Implementing Best Practices: Setting Students Up For Success, Alaina Wallick
Implementing Best Practices: Setting Students Up For Success, Alaina Wallick
Theses/Capstones/Creative Projects
It is evident that individuals within the education field maintain a high level of involvement and responsibility within their school role(s). However, the primary purpose of schooling is to provide a safe, welcoming environment for students to grow socially, emotionally, and academically. This requires teachers to create thoughtful, applicable lesson plans to encourage their students to succeed. The purpose of this study is to emphasize the importance of utilizing one’s time to research and develop differentiated instructional strategies for each unit. Data was collected weekly through an analysis of test scores from three separate assessments. These consisted of a pretest, …
The Impacts Of Positive Praise On Science Achievement Levels Of Female Students, Sidney Hanel
The Impacts Of Positive Praise On Science Achievement Levels Of Female Students, Sidney Hanel
Theses/Capstones/Creative Projects
To the general eye, it appears there has been an increase of women in STEM and overall female interest in science however, this is not apparent in the high school classrooms. The lowest level physics classrooms are overwhelmingly female, and the AP Physics class of twenty-five students has two female students. Society is seeing more equal numbers of males and females in biology, healthcare, dentistry, and other medical related fields. This is a wonderful advancement however many other STEM careers are being forgotten.
This study focuses on five physical science courses one of which is provided with additional feedback and …
Spelling Intervention Strategies: What Works Best?, Cassidy Mentink
Spelling Intervention Strategies: What Works Best?, Cassidy Mentink
Theses/Capstones/Creative Projects
This capstone project will review the different intervention strategies that were implemented when working with six 2nd grade students who were identified as at-risk spellers in my clinical practice placement. The capstone project focused on three differentiated instructional strategies: phonetic, tactile, and digital. Of the three strategies, two were implemented by me and the other was already in place by my cooperating teacher. This capstone will look at the phonetic and tactile strategies I chose as interventions. I will discuss how the strategies worked, how each strategy was favored by the students, and what effect it had on the …
Principals’ And School Counselors’ Perceptions Of School Counselor Leadership Roles, Donald R. Ferree Jr.
Principals’ And School Counselors’ Perceptions Of School Counselor Leadership Roles, Donald R. Ferree Jr.
Educational Leadership Theses, Dissertations, and Student Creative Activity
The complexity school counselors’ many roles can conflict with one another.
Conflict also stems from how building principals perceive the roles of school counselor. This dysfunctional role conflict and ambiguity may lead to organizational stresses that negatively impact the ability to serve students well. Therefore, the purpose of this cross- sectional quantitative study was to explore and compare the perceptions that school counselors and administrators have about the roles of the counselor. This cross-sectional study focused upon the variance of perceptions and beliefs that school counselors and school administrators recognized as optimal for the role of school counselors. The Roles …

School Library Leader Behavior And School Board Selection Policy, Cynthia M. Stogdill
Educational Leadership Theses, Dissertations, and Student Creative Activity
School librarians support access to information and resources in the school library. In a time of misinformation and fake news, access to accurate and timely information is key. School librarians work to serve the needs of all students in every learning environment including alternative, remote, and face to face. At the same time, school librarians are charged with providing multiple perspectives and resources which speak to the needs and interests of every student. Selection policy provides the framework for student access. The school library is a center for equitable student access to information and resources. District selection policies provide the …

A Case Review Of G. G. V Gloucester County School Board, Jill Gross M.S.
Student Work
In education today, one theme is reoccurring, the question of where and how transgender students fit into our classrooms, our buildings, and on our athletic fields. In G. G. v Gloucester County School Board 20 U.S.C. 1681 § (a); G. G., a minor, transgender male, is attempting to use the boys' restroom at his high school. With the approval of his school administration, G. G. began to use the boys' restroom until the local school board passed a policy banning him from using said restroom. G. G. alleges the board discriminated against him and violated Title IX and the Equal …
