The DaVinci Institute is a private partnership of leaders in higher education across the state of Oklahoma. Founded in 1998 as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, DaVinci's goal is to maintain the mission to promote a statewide cultural renaissance by building academic and community partnerships, programming and awareness of the importance of the transformation of education in the 21st century. Members and supports include both public and private institutions of higher learning.

Rich Taylor, whose experience in fine arts includes 27 years in executive leadership posts with the Walt Disney company, is the Dean of the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma.
Taylor, an Enid native and 1972 OU alumnus, has served as interim director of the college since June 2008. His career at Disney, one of the world's largest entertainment companies, included 10 years as vice president of entertainment and costuming for Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla.

In 1997, the Kirkpatrick Foundation convened a meeting of faculty from the various arts departments of public and private universities and colleges in Oklahoma. The purpose was to identify resources and possible collaborative opportunities that would ultimately heighten Oklahoma’s cultural education climate. The group continued to meet regularly, and over time friendships and partnerships were developed among campus faculty of singular institutions as well as among faculty across institutional lines.

The Da Vinci Foundation is an historic educational partnership whose goal is to impact the arts, sciences, humanities and education in Oklahoma through increased partnerships, programming and public awareness. It is the vision of the Da Vinci Institute to provide programs that encourage critical thinking and creativity and promote partnerships and collaborations with other organizations that will further these programs.
Each year a committee selects a winner(s) of the DaVinci Scholar's award in P-12 teaching. The selected educator will receive a $1000 stipend and a Da Vinci Scholar Plaque designed specifically for this award. The P-12 school district and the …

Objective One: Parallel to the continued support of existing programs for advanced students in the arts, support the development and implementation of ongoing, sequential, comprehensive programs of study that include all students, enabling them to meet basic arts proficiencies.
Objective Two: Solidify unity among Oklahoma college and university arts programs as a means of strengthening programs and enhancing offerings.

The Oklahoma A+ Schools project is continuing to move forward in providing schools with relevant and important training towards systemic change. There are 14 schools that have completed their first year in the A+ network. A commitment was made to the inaugural schools that our support for them would be unwavering. New schools would be added only as the A+ staff and finances could assure quality. Therefore, in addition to the 14 initial schools, five new schools have been awarded placement and are beginning the process towards becoming a A+ Schools.

The DaVinci Institute will host a lecture featuring Mr. Ben Cameron, a leading expert in the field of both public and private theater arts, Friday, February 7, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at the Garvey Center Recital Hall at Oklahoma Christian University located at Memorial and the Broadway Extension. Cameron, executive director of the Theatre Communications Group, Inc. in New York City, will speak on “Theater Arts Education and Developing Standards” as part of the DaVinci Institute Integrating the Arts lecture series.

The plan consists of three objectives, each supported by strategies to accomplish the objective. Communication, cooperation and collaboration among Oklahoma member colleges and universities as well as with groups and agencies that impact the arts and arts education in Oklahoma are key to the successful implementation of the plan.
