Scriptural Foundations For Academic Disciplines: A Biblical Theme Approach, Michael E. Cafferky
Scriptural Foundations For Academic Disciplines: A Biblical Theme Approach, Michael E. Cafferky
Faculty Works
This article presents the thesis that major themes of the Bible can form the biblical foundation for academic disciplines as taught in Christian primary schools, secondary schools and undergraduate and graduate studies in higher education. The Bible is not a comprehensive encyclopedia of knowledge; however, its perspective offers a deeper theological and philosophical basis for any academic discipline.

The Transformation Of High-Risk Youth: An Assessment Of A Faith-Based Program In South Africa, Bennett M. Judkins, Karen Mundy
Interdisciplinary Journal of Best Practices in Global Development
This paper considers the case of Outward Bound South Africa (OBSA), an outdoor adventure education program specifically designed for disadvantaged youth in the aftermath of apartheid in South Africa. Founded by American philanthropist Charles Stetson, the goal of OBSA is to provide recourse for South Africans who are victims of history and culture. OBSA seeks to instill values and to create economic empowerment for at-risk youth in the midst of severe social and economic deprivation. Recently, OBSA initiated a faith-based component to their program that follows many of the tenets of the original founder of Outward Bound, German educator Kurt …
Impact Of Chronological Age Differences On The Academic Performance Of Students In A First-Grade Classroom, Astrid I. Rodriguez
Impact Of Chronological Age Differences On The Academic Performance Of Students In A First-Grade Classroom, Astrid I. Rodriguez
Journal of Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Research
In this study, the researchers investigated whether chronological age differences had an impact on the academic performance of students in first grade. Twenty-nine (29) first-grade students were assessed and observed. Their teachers also provided data on their performance through interviews and grade reports. Participating students ranged in age from seventy-three (73) to ninety-two (92) months. Performance data was collected for the core subjects of mathematics and reading in both numerical and narrative forms. Data was then analyzed for relevant patterns. Participants were classified as either younger (≤85 months) or older (≥86 months). The younger group showed difficulties in mathematics, while …

Comparing Act And Nln Pax Exams For Preadmission To An Associate's Degree Nursing Program, Tiffany Potter
Comparing Act And Nln Pax Exams For Preadmission To An Associate's Degree Nursing Program, Tiffany Potter
Journal of Interdisciplinary Graduate Research
Outside of using the ACT exam for admission into the University, a pre-admission exam for the School of Nursing has never been required until recently. A correlational study was completed to determine the relationship between the performance on the ACT and NLN-PAX pre-admission for the students entering the School of Nursing program in January 2015. Additional statistics were calculated comparing gender, ethnicity, and student status (transfer vs. non-transfer) to further validate the student’s performance on the ACT and NLN-PAX exams. Mid-term grades of a fundamentals course were compared to the pre-admission exams to predict success in the nursing program. The …

The Development Of Project Grade-Up, Dalin Glenn Williams
The Development Of Project Grade-Up, Dalin Glenn Williams
MS in Computer Science Theses
The university classroom has greatly evolved from a simple syllabus and in class discussion to the modern online documentation and virtual classrooms. These developments have changed the way students review their grades and balance their workloads. With the plethora of new technologies, students are often burdened with a full school schedule, work, and social events, with few tools to help them effectively understand their grades or manage their time. Current solutions addressing this issue do not present data in an organized way that allows the student to easily comprehend their past performance or up coming work load. Our solution builds …
