An answer as to how to meet teacher shortage in the trade and industrial field may possibly be found in this study. The study entails the State Statute requirements for trade teachers and the recruitment program for trade teachers in the state of Kansas at the present time. In an attempt to uncover some of the influencing factors that would affect the choice of a teaching career, such items as salary, credit unions, group insurance, prestige, leave of absence, retirement and tenure were covered. In the recommendation for a future recruitment program, most of the above items were covered. Several …

The findings of this study include the status and location of the graduates, courses which have been the most helpful, and their suggestions or acknowledgements to the Industrial Education and Art Department of Kansas State Teachers College, Pittsburg, Kansas. The information which was used in developing this study was obtained by sending questionnaires to all graduates of the Department from 1949 to 1955.
