College Leadership Opportunities' Impact On Life During And After College, Mark Anthony Pietrowski Jr.

This study explores the personal experiences of 14 individuals who engaged in leadership opportunities during their college educations. Through in-depth interviews, this study sought to explore how those leadership experiences impacted their leadership, both in their careers and/or in the community, after their graduation from both 2 and 4-year institutions. Findings from this study indicate that participants identified that their leadership experiences had impacts upon their careers and leadership after graduation. Yet, participants also shared that they engaged in leadership because they were self-motivated to do so, rather than learning about these opportunities on their campus. Motivating High School Students In A Blended Physical Education Learning Environment: A Self-Determination Theory Analysis, Soyini Chism

This qualitative case study examines the impact an autonomous-supportive/competence-satisfying learning environment has on the motivation of blended physical education (BPE) students. The goal of this study was to highlight the lived experiences of BPE students in order to gain an in-depth understanding of how pedagogical practices promote or demote student motivation in a physically active learning environment. The participants included 20 eleventh- and twelfth-grade students enrolled in BPE at Central High School. The study took place during the 2019-2020 school year. They Decided To Graduate: A Study Of Collegiate African American Men’S Transformational Experiences In College And Beyond, Kathy Marie Freeman

This is a study of African American men alumni who were members of a Black Male Initiative (BMI) organization at a predominantly white institution (PWI) in the Midwest. The research explores the motivation and transformational experiences of BMI alumni and how their participation in the organization provided the support and motivation they needed to persist and graduate. Self-determination theory and transformational learning theory formed the theoretical frameworks that inform this study. This qualitative study obtained data from 10 African American men by using a 60-90 minute in-depth interview structure with 10 open-ended questions.
