Campus Resources for Faculty
The most critical element in the first year of the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE) has been the completion of a gap analysis regarding campus support of faculty development. What has Missouri S&T done well and where has the campus fallen short? What should CAFE do to enhance the performance of faculty?
This report, a response to those questions, is based largely upon 80 interviews. Thirty-one of the interviews were with those who assess faculty performance, ranging from University of Missouri President Mun Choi, Missouri S&T Interim Chancellor Chris Maples, and Provost Robert Marley down through deans, associate deans, …

Evaluation Of The Redesign Of A Stem Gatekeeper Course, General Chemistry I, Incorporating Active-Learning Strategies And Implementation Of A Student-Choice Model, Travis Rae Mcdowell
Evaluation Of The Redesign Of A Stem Gatekeeper Course, General Chemistry I, Incorporating Active-Learning Strategies And Implementation Of A Student-Choice Model, Travis Rae Mcdowell
Doctoral Dissertations
"The first courses freshman university students typically enroll in are the introductory science and math, courses that bridge from and build upon their prior educational experiences. These introductory courses often have large enrollment lectures coupled with supplemental sessions to teach using traditional educational practices, which may operate counter to the attitudes and culture of the students who take them. To address this, the general chemistry faculty through collaboration with a team of educational specialists initiated a redesign of the general chemistry course, which primarily serves first-year undergraduates. The redesign efforts included changes such as reducing lecture time and placing emphasis …
A Methodology To Predict Community College Stem Student Retention And Completion, Jennifer Lynn Snyder
A Methodology To Predict Community College Stem Student Retention And Completion, Jennifer Lynn Snyder
Doctoral Dissertations
"Numerous government reports point to the multifaceted issues facing the country's capacity to increase the number of STEM majors, while also diversifying the workforce. Community colleges are uniquely positioned as integral partners in the higher education ecosystem. These institutions serve as an access point to opportunity for many students, especially underrepresented minorities and women. Community colleges should serve as a major pathway to students pursuing STEM degrees; however student retention and completion rates are dismally low. Therefore, there is a need to predict STEM student success and provide interventions when factors indicate potential failure. This enables educational institutions to better …
Precise Energy Efficient Scheduling Of Mixed-Criticality Tasks & Sustainable Mixed-Criticality Scheduling, Sai Sruti
Masters Theses
"In this thesis, the imprecise mixed-criticality model (IMC) is extended to precise scheduling of tasks, and integrated with the dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) technique to enable energy minimization. The challenge in precise scheduling of MC systems is to simultaneously guarantee the timing correctness for all tasks, hi and lo, under both pessimistic and optimistic (less pessimistic) assumptions. To the best of knowledge this is the first work to address the integration of DVFS energy conserving techniques with precise scheduling of lo-tasks of the MC model.
In this thesis, the utilization based schedulability tests and sufficient conditions for such …
