Proceedings of the Interdisciplinary STEM Teaching and Learning Conference (2017-2019)

Success in undergraduate biology courses relies upon a firm grounding in chemical principles. We sought to raise students’ awareness of the connection between these two disciplines and to improve their understanding of each by carrying out a pilot project that integrated the curricula of Principles of Chemistry II (CHEM1212K) and Principles of Biology I (BIOL1107K) during the Fall 2016 semester. At Georgia Gwinnett College we are integrating the undergraduate educational experience for our Bachelor of Science students in the Biology discipline. We are using the opportunities presented by the genetic information revolution to combine biology courses in a longitudinal and integrative research project aimed at cataloguing biological diversity over space and time on the developing Georgia Gwinnett College campus.

This collection consists of the personal and research papers of Karl E. Peace, Professor of Biostatistics at Georgia Southern University and namesake of the Karl E. Peace Center for Biostatistics and Survey Research. Materials span 1941 to 2018 and include, correspondence, teaching materials, published articles, and manuscripts. A small portion of 3 photographs and artists renderings are also included. This collection is still undergoing processing.
