This qualitative study used a phenomenological approach to elevate and explore the voices of Oregon community college graduates of online career and technical education (CTE) programs to better understand how they perceive they were prepared with employability skills. The participants graduated from their program in Spring 2020, after their final term of classes were shifted completely online due to COVID-19. A three-interview protocol was conducted to explore how participants define employability skills, and the extent to which they felt their online learning experience prepared them with strong teamwork, communication, and results-orientation skills, requisite for success in their fields. The gap in achievement between White students and their African American and Latinx peers has been documented since the 1960s. Since that time, the federal government, scholars, researchers, and educators have worked to remedy this achievement gap, often with programs labeled as educational alternative services (EAS). Yet, despite programs like EAS showing some successes over the last fifty years, the gap in achievement persists. This study used a qualitative analysis approach to examine the perceptions of four licensed staff members—three teachers and one counselor—on the use of mission, vision, and values (MVV) to guide daily school operations. There is little empirical research and theory on the use of MVV in schools, and what literature does exist focuses mainly on the administrative level of education management. The purpose of this study was to identify the meanings that one community, in an isolated part of a Northwest town in the United States, associated with their remote school. This study applied, in part, the portraiture method within qualitative research, inspired by Sarah Lawrence-Lightfoot. Narratives were constructed in partnership between the participants and the teacher-researcher to illuminate themes such as community relationships, trust, being known, communication, family involvement, and challenges associated with living in a rural, remote setting. A small number of studies have explored community college safety officers’ perceptions regarding concealed carry on campuses. This understudied topic demands attention as the number of concealed handgun permits increased nationally for the third year in a row (Crime Prevention Research Center, 2021). Data suggests that within the 34 states that require a concealed carry permit, the number of Americans carrying stands at 18.66 million, a 304% increase since 2007 (Crime Prevention Research Center, 2021). This quantitative study utilized a quasi-experimental design and SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) as an analysis tool to measure the correlation between independent variables and dependent variables in SETs (student evaluations of teaching) in experimental and control groups. Social learning theory is a foundational theory for building the conceptual framework of this study. Two other theories—motivation theory and self-efficacy—are subfoundational theories to support the conceptual framework. This multiple case study investigated the experiences of culturally and linguistically diverse teachers who came to teach through participation in a Grow Your Own teacher preparation program. The study explored the ways in which the culturally and linguistically diverse educators viewed their participation in the Grow Your Own (GYO) program as impeding or facilitating persistence through their teacher preparation. The study shares the stories of three participants through narrative case reports and then highlights cross-case replications. Research sought to improve student engagement in a digital learning environment using an improvement science dissertation in practice (ISDiP) framework of a strategize, implement, analyze, and reflect (SIAR) cycle. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to examine the lived experiences of four longterm male elementary classroom teachers. Each of the participants had spent at least 25 years as a classroom teacher at the elementary level in a Pacific Northwest school district. This phenomenological study used the chordal triad of agency within the framework of agentic ecological theory to explore how four rural elementary teachers perceived their achievement of individual professional agency as they participated in a school district mandated pedagogical reform.
