One of the main challenges that elementary teachers face is developing a reading program that adequately meets the need of all students. Given that not all students learn in the same manner, it is imperative that teachers find ways to motivate and excite all students when it comes to reading. Research has shown that motivation for reading predicts reading achievement as it is reflected on standardized tests and in school grades (Sweet, Guthrie, & Ng, 1998).
