A Videotape Presentation Of The Positive Learning Environment At Peter G. Schmidt Elementary School, Donna Hass Mellander

Schools have needed to keep constituents informed about the effectiveness of the formal learning environment. This videotape, entitled, "A Tour Through The Sunshine School", facilitated that communication. Candid scenes highlighted students and staff involved in basic and enrichment programs at Peter G. Schmidt Elementary School. Selected literature was reviewed. Videotape technicians were consulted and production procedures were listed. The Tumwater School Board of Directors, teachers, students and community members viewed the tape and made it available for future showings. A bibliography of selected literature was included.

The specific area and focus of this project will be that of arranging District and program math learning objectives for eventual computer banking along with materials cross-referenced to those objectives. In addition, the cross-referenced materials will be labeled as to grade level, interest level, mode of learning, and time needed for their use. The computer banking will facilitate use and prescriptive accessibility to given objectives.

This project is written with the hopes of offering assistance to the private/parochial schools that either have not committed themselves to an art program or that are floundering within stagnating commitments or those that need stimulus to think about the benefits of an art curriculum. The seed thoughts for this project were first planted when the author began teaching in a private school and observed first hand curriculum deficiences in local private/parochial schools.
