Purpose: The purpose of this series of lessons was to provide material for explaining how to do cloze exercises.
Materials: The riddles, sentences, and easier passages were written for this series. The more difficult passages and story were taken from reading materials.
Procedure: The riddles were left intact. The sentences and shorter passages had no special deletion pattern. The more difficult passages had nouns deleted. The story had an every fifth word deletion pattern.

Advisory committees are considered essential to the establishment and operation of vocational and technical education programs. This study describes the results of a survey of 20 community college advisory board members in sixteen districts in Washington State.

This project is an attempt to provide the Federal Way School District with an observation system. The system was patterned after the Instrument for the Observation of Teaching Activities by a twelve member committee of District Administrators. The system was then implemented to all supervisory personnel through a series of five workshops in the Fall of 1977.
The system's success was monitored and an evaluation was made by teachers and other supervisors.
Recommendations are for continued growth of this system.

This project provides enrichment reading materials for the first grade child who is designated as gifted and is reading beyond the preprimer and primer levels at the beginning of the school year. The materials are divided into four areas; (1) word recognition, (2) comprehension, (3) vocabulary, and (4) study skills. In each of these areas, enrichment activities have been prepared with the most emphasis given to comprehension. Although originally designed to be used independently, the materials can be used as skill teaching devices. The difficulty of the materials varies; therefore, the materials have been sequenced according to difficulty.

This paper presents a program for teaching media/research skills by integrating them with study assignments in curricular areas developed by classroom teachers. It is planned to be carried out in the Instructional Resource Center with both the classroom teacher and the librarian present. Evaluation is provided for student diagnosis and program improvement. Recommendations include the adoption of this program for the Eastmont Middle School.

This project is the development of a curriculum of language packets in Spanish dealing with the communication concepts which are tested in the MAT-SEA-CAL Oral Language Proficiency Test. The packets develop one specific skill in each of the communication concepts: numerality, temporality, spatial relations, identification, classification, case relationships, interrogation, and negation. The packets are designed for native Spanish speakers, grades K-3, who have certain structural problems in oral Spanish.

This project, designed for content teachers wishing to improve their students' reading skills, includes lesson plans, procedures, and materials for learning modules in the following content field reading problem areas: readability, vocabulary, diagnosis, questioning, using the textbook, organizing for instruction, and notetaking and listening. The key recommendation was that the project be seen as an evolving process and not as an end product.

This project consists of three parts. Chapter 1 establishes the need for more concentrated teaching of poor readers among school children and suggests volunteer tutors as a possible source of help. Chapter 2 examines the history of tutoring by non-professionals and concludes that volunteers can indeed be effective tutors, but that appropriate training is a crucial factor. Chapter 3, the main part of the project, presents a set of ten training modules each consisting of taped instructions and accompanying printed material. The script for each tape is included in this paper.
