Website Accessibility Compliance At Research Institutions, Jonathan D. Mcgough

Three websites from 34 research institutions were evaluated on six measures of website accessibility. All but one institution had at least one website fail the accessibility assessment, and the single institution that performed well had recently been investigated by the Department of Justice regarding the accessibility of its website. This study concludes that while disability service offices do perform better than institutional homepages and admissions websites on measures of accessibility, many websites are plagued by perennial accessibility concerns such as images that lack alternate descriptions and content inaccessible to individuals using keyboard navigation or screen reader software.

Inclusion is a step in the right direction for providing equal opportunities for those with disabilities. Inclusion is the integration of special education students in general education classrooms to the maximum extent which is appropriate for the individual. Court cases throughout history have paved the way for equality for all students. Great movements such as Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in 2001 began to make a change in the education of students with disabilities. The purpose of this project was to develop a model curriculum for selected physical education adaptations for student with special needs, in alignment with Washington Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALR's). To accomplish this purpose, a review of selected literature was conducted. Additionally, related information from selected sources was obtained and analyzed. The model curriculum was developed for implementation in the Ellensburg School District in the 2002-2003 school year.

The purpose of this project was to expand upon a current workshop that taught students about positive self-esteem and how to self-advocate for themselves, by creating a handbook of information about dyslexia and some strategies to pre-expose them to the workshop content. The handbook includes an appendix with all required material to complete the workshop. The project also contains, a review of current literature and research related to dyslexia including the definition, diagnosis, testing, remediation, and self-esteem in regards to dyslexia was conducted.

The purpose of this study was twofold: to gain a better understanding of the nature of the specific reading disability of dyslexia and to find out how a classroom teacher could best meet the needs of the dyslexic child.
