Regional Research Collaboration: Progress Report To The Association, Edward Griffin, Donald Miller, Robert Remstad
Regional Research Collaboration: Progress Report To The Association, Edward Griffin, Donald Miller, Robert Remstad
Mid-Western Educational Researcher (1981 - 1987)
The Ad Hoc Committee on Regional Research Collaboration was formed at the 1980 Annual Meeting in Toledo following a program session on the topic and subsequent expressions of interest by those attending. The Committee charge was to identify the extent of membership interests, keep members informed, and suggest actions the Association might take to facilitate cooperative research activities.
This report continues the dialog, invites further comments from members, reports the results of a recent survey of the membership, and suggests decisions which are needed to initiate activities.
A Comparison Of Maximum Likelihood And A Bayesian Ability Estimation Procedure For Tailored Testing, Martin A. Rosso, Mark D. Reckase
A Comparison Of Maximum Likelihood And A Bayesian Ability Estimation Procedure For Tailored Testing, Martin A. Rosso, Mark D. Reckase
Mid-Western Educational Researcher (1981 - 1987)
In tailored testing there are two commonly used methods of operation. These two methods on a maximum likelihood ability estimation procedure and a Bayesian ability estimation procedure (Owen, 1975). The first procedure estimates a subject's ability after each item using an empirical maximum likelihood technique. The ability estimate is then used to select the next item in such a way that the item information is maximized at that ability level (Birnbaum, 1968). With the second procedure, ability is estimated as the mean of the posterior ability distribution and items are selected to minimize the posterior variance of the ability estimate …
Open Education Evaluation: A Follow-Up Study Using Video Tape Recordings, Kenneth E. Griswold
Open Education Evaluation: A Follow-Up Study Using Video Tape Recordings, Kenneth E. Griswold
Mid-Western Educational Researcher (1981 - 1987)
Interview studies are still quite rare in open education evaluation, Yet there is a need for more of them, for they may well make up in richness and depth what they lack in statistical precision (Horowitz, 1979). Especially rare are any follow-up studies of students' perceptions of their open education experiences.
Of the studies reviewed concerning students' attitude toward school, evidence indicates that, compared with children in traditional classrooms, open classroom children feel at least equally positive, and often more positive, towards their school experience (Horowitz, 1979).
