"The study investigated the question: What is the process that Christian higher education administrators and faculty members used when understanding the challenges of postmodern thought at the institutions, and what are the challenges for ethical leadership? Utilizing a grounded theory methodology, the researcher sought to develop a theory that examined how fifteen Christian higher education administrators and faculty understood the challenges of postmodern thought at their institution and determined what were the implications for ethical leadership. The idea of the university in Latin America has been strongly influenced by Europeanmodels that were perpetuated since the arrival of the colonizers. As a result, theuniversity activity was conceived in special places where students learned aboutcertain topics and then return to the real world. In recent years, there has been agrowing concern in various groups of scholars and public leaders for the relevanceof the impact that universities are having on their communities. This study focuseson Montemorelos University and its impact on the surrounding communities. Thisstudy also reveals examples of how community involvement can be a key factor inhigher education.

Desde el punto de vista histórico la noción de sabiduría transitó desde ser considerada el bien último del hombre a ser vista como un bien privado, siendo actualmente relegada por los conocimientos y descubrimientos científicos de los saberes disciplinarios, que son los que se enseñan en la universidad. Sin embargo, múltiples investigaciones han encontrado que las personas sabias viven más y mejor (Peterson y Seligman, 2004), tienen mayor satisfacción personal, salud física y mejores relaciones familiares (Ardelt, 2000), además de enfrentar mejor la muerte y un mayor desempeño global (Estudillo, 2010).
