This poster provided an update on the implementation of Team-Based Learning (TBL) by NH LEND faculty during Academic Year 2015-2016. Improvements to the Readiness Assurance Process included defined learning outcomes, use of reading guides, and improved assessment of trainee knowledge of concepts. Evaluation data from Years 1 and 2 regarding the use of TBL were presented, including positive outcomes and challenges described by faculty and trainees.

Learning Showcase 2016: A Celebration of Discovery, Transformation and Success
The high level of collaboration between universities allowed this project to be a success for the students and for learning. Limitations such as the 5 hour time difference were challenging but not insurmountable. The usefulness of online and collaborative projects of this sort can effectively substitute for study abroad activities that are often not available to older adult students that might have families and jobs. In future runs of the project we hope to extend the semester to an entire course instead of being part of a course.

Many researchers have compared the characteristics of online and face-to-face learning to find out best learning approach over last decades. This research led to a new learning concept-hybrid learning - that combines the best features of both approaches and overcomes many of their limitations. Through the lens of environmental psychology and photo voice, this study explores online faculty’s work vs. home environment. Results indicated many participants had previously considered separating work and home and developed methods to maintain separation. This is a preliminary exploration to a larger survey study.

In a low socioeconomic farming town at a rural family medicine clinic in upstate NY, I wanted to find a way to help reduce barriers to healthcare and help patients take an active role in their health using free internet resources. My idea was to help connect patients with reliable health information without needing to travel to the clinic, understanding that some patients may be limited in their ability to travel, take time off from work or afford the copays/expenses associated with seeing their providers.
