Children in grades one through six who were identified as children from migrant agricultural families in a specific country in South Central Kentucky were compared to non-migrant children in the same specific county. A determination of the educational needs of these migrant children was made by a comparison of their standardized test scores to similar test scores of children from non-migrant families in the areas of Reading, Math, AND Total Battery scores. Resultant data from the test scores indicated that migrant children generally do not have achieve as high academically in the areas tested as do children from non-migrant families. …

The study was designed to discern the possible effects of Integral Hatha Yoga administered five times a week for four weeks to drug users at "Freedom House," a drug rehabilitation community at Eastern Psychiatric Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Experimental data were to provide sufficient information to reveal the differences in self-actualization, anxiety, body-cathexis and behavioral progress through the overall rehabilitation program, between a treatment and a control group.
In August of 1975, 11 patients at the drug unit received a lecture and demonstration of Integral Hatha Yoga. Eight of the patients agreed to take part in the study and …

The specific objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of training on understanding empathy in the teacher training process.
Subjects were Utah State University students enrolled in Elementary Education during winter quarter 1976. The experimental group was composed of 34 subjects and the control group of 27 subjects.
Both groups were administered a pretest. The experimental group then received the treatment which consisted of a training program designed to help them to be able to (1) define, (2) recognize instances of, and (3) to emit empathic behavior. A Follow-Up Study Of Selected Participants In The Youth Development Program (Drop-Out Program) Of The Jefferson County Kentucky School System, H. Wayne Cumbee

Samples from four school year classes of students that participated in the youth Development Program, were interviewed in areas of family background, marital status, career status, educational status and interest in certain communication media. The data from the Interview Questionnaire was then collated. All participants had been classed as drop-outs or potential drop-outs. The school years involved were: 4969 through 1972-73. The results showed that fifty-six percent graduated the year they attended the program; twelve percent returned to regular school. Persisted and graduated; six percent went on to college and twenty-six percent received their graduation certificate or an equivalency (G.E.D.) …

Contemporary critics, concerned with the maintenance of personal privacy, have termed the use of personality tests a "white glove rack and screw" . Monroe H. Freedman, Dean of Hofstra University School of Law, while testifying before a congressional subcommittee, compared the use of psychological tests to the administration of truth serums and found both to be an affront to personal dignity.
Nevertheless, the 1960's witnessed a three-fold increase in the number of school counselors employed in most schools and a nation-wide survey of these counselors indicated that at least one-third of their time was spent in dealing with the personal …

This study examined the effects of teacher reinforcement on both reading achievement and students' attitudes toward school. It was hypothesized that students of high reinforcing teachers would achieve greater reading gains and would exhibit more positive attitudes toward school than students of lower reinforcing teachers.
Eight classrooms of second and third-grade students (N=139) and their teachers from a rural school district were involved in this study. The students were administered the reading section of the Metropolitan Achievement Test and the "Describe Your School" questionnaire during the fall of 1975. subsequent to this pre-assessment, the eight teachers were observed by independent …
