Assessing Public Relations Student Learning And Performance In Real World Client Campaigns And Projects, Douglas J. Swanson Ed.D Apr
Douglas J. Swanson, Ed.D APR
Extensive research affirms the benefits of engaging public relations undergraduates in campaigns and projects for real world clients. At the same time, instructors often have difficulty evaluating student learning and performance in such work, for three reasons: (1.) In order for the work to truly be real world, instructors must allow students a high level of autonomy. (2.) Clients are often poor judges of appropriate public relations practice. (3.) Students often hesitate to inform instructors of strategic challenges or team member negligence or malfeasance. This poster session presents a brief overview of assessment concepts affirming why it is important to …

This poster presents an overview of ongoing work in the Computer Science Department to assess the learning oc-curring in multiple undergraduate courses in an analytical manner which will facilitate semester-to-semester and in-stitution-to-institution comparisons. It describes the types of assessments created (which are course-specific based on ACM model content areas identified as covered by the instructor), their use, data analysis and the conclu-sions which can be drawn. Limited initial data is also pre-sented.

This poster presents work on building a 3d scanner. A 3d scanner is a device that analyzes a real-world object to collect data on its shape and or appearance. The collected data can then be used to construct digital 3d models. The scanner is made up of 50 Raspberry Pi computer boards and cameras. We will construct 12 arms each holding four cameras per arm. The purpose of this is to be able to scan anything and produce a 3d model that we then would be able to send to the 3d printer or use in a video game or …

The Mobile Learning Initiative (MoLI) works with faculty members on exploring and designing mobile solutions. A communications faculty member contacted our Mobile Learning Initiative (MoLI) group to explore using a mobile solution for a class activity where students would be able upload images, text, and audio from around the city and display it on a map where others could search and filter the results. Using Google Fusion Tables we were able to setup a method for students to add content, including images, addresses, and details regarding the location that could be filtered and viewed on a Google map. We worked …

Claudio Rama Vitale (Dr. ED; Dr. DER)
This article analyses the process by which higher education in Latin America is being digitalised, and how it is radically
changing the educational dynamics in the region. The incorporation of digital technology implies a transformation of traditional distance education and the creation of new distance education dynamics. Indeed, some institutions are now offering fully online programmes, and there is a general increase in the digitalisation of face-to-face teaching. This study analyses the state of the art of the educational changes brought about by educational digitalisation in Latin America, and characterises the various aspects of it. It also describes the slow …
