Effects Of Candy And Public Recording Upon Objective Quiz Scores In A Social Studies Class, Thomas Raymond Brown Jul 1969

Effects Of Candy And Public Recording Upon Objective Quiz Scores In A Social Studies Class, Thomas Raymond Brown

All Master's Theses

The purpose of this study was to investigate the reactions of a seventh grade social studies class to public recording and candy when presented in conjunction with the standard classroom reinforcer of grades. It was hoped that this investigation would provide evidence that methods in the field of operant behavior are effective in standard classrooms and not just "special" classrooms.

The Relative Effects Of Immediate And Delayed Reinforcement On A Programed Learning Task, A. Lee Parks Apr 1967

The Relative Effects Of Immediate And Delayed Reinforcement On A Programed Learning Task, A. Lee Parks

All Master's Theses

It was the purpose of this study (1) to compare the effects of immediate knowledge of results and delayed knowledge of results on a programed task to determine which, if either, would result in superior learning; and (2) to explore the effect of these two variables on the amount of retention of learning over time.

An Extension Of The Reinforcement Contiguity Issue – The Effect Of Retention In The Goal Box After Reinforcement, Marilyn L. Grey Dec 1966

An Extension Of The Reinforcement Contiguity Issue – The Effect Of Retention In The Goal Box After Reinforcement, Marilyn L. Grey

All Master's Theses

This study investigated one prediction of Guthrie's theory of learning (1936, 1952)--that retention in the goal box after reinforcement increases the likelihood of incompatible responses to the goal stimuli and, thus, decreases learning. Three measures of learning were used: number of trials to criterion, total number of correct trials in the first twenty trials, and number of subjects who met criterion of five successive correct responses within forty trials.

The Effect Of Verbal And Nonverbal Reinforcing Stimuli On The Conditioning Of Word Choices, Barbara Jean Dafoe Aug 1964

The Effect Of Verbal And Nonverbal Reinforcing Stimuli On The Conditioning Of Word Choices, Barbara Jean Dafoe

All Master's Theses

The present study was undertaken to determine if a specific nonverbal reinforcing stimulus was more effective than a specific verbal reinforcing stimulus in bringing about a change in behavior in a verbal conditioning experiment.

Delayed Reinforcement And Delayed Response In Discrimination Learning Of Developmentally Retarded Children, Robert Preston Gelhart Aug 1961

Delayed Reinforcement And Delayed Response In Discrimination Learning Of Developmentally Retarded Children, Robert Preston Gelhart

All Master's Theses

As a preliminary investigation of delay factors in discrimination learning, the present study was designed primarily to contrast the effect of a short delay in response with the same duration of delay of reinforcement in order to evaluate the possibility that reinforcement-delay alone during the standard response-delay experiment is responsible for decremental effects.
