The purpose of this study was to investigate historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) athletic administrators (i.e., Directors of Athletics, Senior Women Administrators, Commissioners) perceptions of curriculum development and design of a graduate (doctoral) level curriculum for athletic programs. Few studies were reported in the literature of researchers investigating variables affecting the operation, effectiveness and curriculum development of athletics at HBCUs. Athletics curriculum continues to be debated amongst this discipline’s educators. Athletic directors (ADs) in institutions of higher education are the chief administrators of their respective athletic departments.
