How I Developed As A Qualitative Researcher: A Covid-19 Induced Dissertation Research Shift, Jareau Almeyda

Prior to the global COVID-19 pandemic, my dissertation study aimed to explore how exposure to information systems project management impacts perceptions of computing careers among high school female participants. However, the emergence of the COVID-19 global pandemic and the closure of schools forced the premature end of the study–resulting in the design of a new study. The new study aimed to understand the experiences of teachers and the readiness and sustainability concerns they had after being abruptly transitioned from an in-person teaching environment to a fully online teaching environment. Building and sustaining a faculty development program for online education requires extensive time and resources. In light of shrinking budgets, increased demand, and continuous advancements in technology, faculty development professionals often struggle with updating or revising their own curriculum. As part of the State University System of Florida Board of Governors 2025 Strategic Plan for Online Education, the University of Central Florida is creating a robust online faculty development program to serve the entire state of Florida. NSUWorks' primary librarian administrator will speak about submitting to the journals and conference along with the benefits authors will receive from having their work published online.
