The Washington State Board of Education and higher institutions in the state of Washington have prescribed definite requirements for elementary and secondary principal's credentials. Limited information is available, however, to aid in developing and carrying out a program of internship experiences as one phase of administrative requirements. The purpose of this study was to develop a handbook for elementary principal internship in the state of Washington.

It was the purpose of this study to (1) review the evolution of supervisory attitude toward the observational visit, (2) determine how it may improve instruction, (3) discuss the establishment of rapport between the supervisor and the teacher, (4) present some types of classroom observational visits the principal as a supervisor may use, and (5) present and discuss the value of the post visit conference between teacher and supervisor.

The purpose of this study was (1) to define the general areas that help determine teaching performance, (2) to find a way to evaluate these areas as objectively as possible, and (3) to devise a form on which the results can be placed and easily interpreted. The problem was to study methods of evaluating the teaching staff without endangering their morale, without criticism of favoritism, and with a final goal of detecting and correcting weaknesses in the teaching profession.
