The purpose of this study was to determine what photographic training is needed by the instructional media specialist in high schools of the State of Washington. In order to make such determination, both the need and the photographic training had to be clarified. A study designed: (1) to determine whether the building level Role Definition produced by the ad hoc Joint Standards Committee was representative of the roles performed by the media personnel, and (2) to determine the role duties of district media personnel. The study showed the Role Definition to be representative and the district level proposal emphasizing administrative and coordinative responsibilities. It was recommended a future study be conducted to further the knowledge of the role/duties of district media personnel.

In the opinion of the investigator, the experiment reported reinforces the hypothesis that greater imagination and creative ability can be fostered in the nine-to-eleven year-old through giving primary consideration to the developmental needs of this age group when presenting a medium. Also that a systematically structured approach to the use of the medium facilitates the child's creative growth and makes progress an unavoidable issue.

Due to the low economic area from which the subjects for this experiment were chosen, many were lacking in environmental experiences which contributed to their growth in reading skills and interests in the primary grades. This experiment was devised as a means to study reading difficulties in children from a low socioeconomic area, while, at the same time, parents were used to help overcome those problems. The main purpose of this study was to compare and contrast improvement in reading interest and reading skills in matched groups of subjects of an experimental and a control group.

It was the purpose of this study to describe and to explore the factors in the development and the planning and organization of appropriate learning tasks in the field experience for the Central Washington State College Pre-Professional Students within the Ellensburg Public Schools.
The new experience for these freshmen raised the question: "What are appropriate learning tasks or competencies that these freshmen should or should not have?" Thus this study: (1) examined various learning tasks; (2) developed a rationale for appropriate competencies; and (3) developed and listed appropriate tasks in behavioral terms for these freshmen.

Pestalozzi (1746-1827), Friedrick Froebel (1782-1852), and Emanuel Fellenberg (1771-1844) had been put into practice with favorable results. The Prussian normal schools established by Frederick the Great were some of the best in the world. American educators came back with glowing reports of the progress Europeans were making in this direction. The purpose of this study was to develop Phase II in the Basic Educational Experiences Program, Phase I (6) of which was already in use in Yakima's Elementary Schools. Phase I was a minimal program in motor-sensory development. Phase II was a program in sequential perceptual activities contributing to and supporting the perceptual needs of the individual child through personal involvement in its activities.

As in any other part of the curriculum, physical education requires equipment, facilities, and personnel in order to help assure a successful program. The degree of attainment of this success will be shown by the opinions of those whose judgments are considered valid. In contrast with this will be the performance capabilities of the students who take part in the program in terms of physical fitness performance, physical fitness knowledge, and neuromuscular skills. Finally, attitudes about physical education are also held to be important and should also be judged.

To determine the effect of a teacher's reading literature upon the interest in reading books among sixth grade students, one group (experimental) participated in a twenty-eight week program of scheduled daily time during which they listened to literature read by their teacher. A second group (control) were not exposed to literature in this manner but otherwise participated in a similar school program.
