School-Based Health Centers Versus Telehealth Programs On Professional Quality Of Life Of Public School Teachers In Arkansas, Amber Ellis

This dissertation aimed to determine by type of school-based health program—schoolbased health centers (SBHCs) or telehealth programs (tSBHC)—and years of teaching experience on the effects of compassion satisfaction, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress among public school teachers in Arkansas districts. Mandates legitimize the additional mental health supports for students; however, supports for teachers who interact with those students is almost non-existent. The Professional Quality of Life survey measures compassion satisfaction, burnout, and secondary trauma in the work setting. The purpose of this dissertation was to examine the effect of varying pathways to educator licensure on licensure exam scores by racial groups. The study was designed to aid in developing state-level policy that could better strengthen and diversify the educator workforce in the state. For the study, Knowles’ adult learning theory provided the core framework of the research. Each of the hypotheses addressed a subtest on the PRAXIS Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects exam. First, the purpose of this study was to determine the effects by subject area taught between educators in high schools versus educators in middle schools on the Abstract Conceptualization, Active Experimentation, Concrete Experience, and Reflective Observation learning modes measured by Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory in one central Arkansas school district. The purpose of this dissertation was to conduct an independent study to determine the effectiveness of the READ 180 reading intervention program when implemented with middle and junior high school students with disabilities. The gap in school performance between African American students and students of other subpopulations has shown up in a range of academic success measures including course grades, test scores, course selection, and college graduation rates (Johnston & Viadero 2000); college and high school grade point averages [GPAs] (Banks & Banks, 2004); and dropout rates (Gordon, 1999; Green, 2001; Irvine & Armento, 2001; Jencks & Phillips, 1998; Kober, 2001; Lee, 2002). The purpose of this study was to add to the limited research with regard to bullying in private schools in general and specifically to member schools of the National Christian School Association (NCSA). Middle school students in grades 6, 7, and 6 were given a survey concerning bullying and bullying behavior in their schools. This qualitative multi-case study examined how various practicing secondary principals in the Northwest Region of Arkansas perceive teacher collaboration within secondary schools. Job-embedded opportunities for teacher collaboration have been cited as successful ways for promoting teacher learning, which in turn will promote increased student learning (Little, 1990). Researchers and theorists cite properly supported collaboration as key to lasting school improvement (DuFour & Eaker, 1998; Fullan, 1997; Little, 1990).
