Integrating Instructional Technology Into A Teacher Education Program: A Three Tiered Approach, Elizabeth Truesdell, Rebecca Birch

This project description examines how a teacher education program integrated new instructional technology through the creation of a Technology Facilitator position in the department. The project proceeded through a three-tiered system of learning "literacy" to establish a knowledge base amongst faculty members, "augmenting" required courses to model the use of instructional technology, and finally the "transformation" of the credential program where the activity of learning can only be accomplished through leveraging technology. Organizational Science In Education: An Exploration Of Teacher Leaders’ Experiences With Educational Stakeholders, Elizabeth Truesdell

While scholars argue the benefits of developing teacher leaders, the push toward higher accountability has forced teachers to focus on increased test scores and teaching standards. The field of organizational science has studied how changing organizational climates can alter stakeholders'expectations of leaders. Using the lens of stakeholder leadership, this mixed method study explored the influence of mandated reform efforts on teacher leaders, and the impact of the changing organizational climate on their roles and behaviors. Way Of Being, Not Doing: The Influence Of An Innovative Writing Project On Teacher’S Adaptation To Mandates, Elizabeth Truesdell

​A growing number of scholars suggest that educational reform efforts are needed that encourage teachers to become leaders and pursue instructional innovation. Public concern over school accountability has forced educators to question how to achieve those goals while complying with the demands of mandated reform. This exploratory case study analyzed the perspectives of six teachers who participated in a professional development reform effort that emphasizes collaboration and innovation. The study sought to understand how teachers changed and adapted project learnings within the context of reform mandates.
