A Comparative Analysis Of The Skills And Satisfaction Of Teenagers Taught Decision-Making Models, John T. Chapman

This study was designed to measure the effectiveness of two generic types of decision-making models currently used to teach high school students decision-making.

Models that were used in this study were a deductive and an inductive model. Deductive decision-making is the philosophical process, that is a generalization of personal values to specific choice items. Induction is the scientific process; students consider a series of specific items and generalize a decision from the examinations.

Effectiveness in this study was defined as the process skills and student satisfaction with the methods. Individual student differences that were considered in the study were grades, …

The purpose of this research was to clarify the relationship between interpersonal perception and locus of control. Interpersonal perception refers to the process of understanding internal states of other human beings. Locus of control refers to the belief in the nature of causality of reinforcement. Viewed theoretically as a continuum, individuals at one end, labeled internals, believe that the reinforcement they receive in life is the direct result of their own behavior. Conversely, individuals at the opposite end of the continuum, labeled externals, believe that the reinforcement they receive in life is the result of fate, luck, or powerful others. …

Toward A More Comprehensive Operational Definition Of Student And Faculty Member Informal Contact, Paul D. Ewald

Graduate students identified as high interactors and faculty members teaching graduate level courses participated in a questionnaire and interview study designed to expand on the existing operational definitions of student-faculty informal contact as a research variable. Statistically significant differences were found between student and faculty subjects on items concerning who defined the relationships, accessibility, and advisement. Student and faculty subjects were in agreement on a range of items concerning initiation of contact, degree of impact, context of interaction, and amount of informality. At Central High School in Clifton, Illinois, students are required to take one of three Junior English classes in order to graduate. These classes are: American Fiction, American Literature Survey, and Modern American Literature. Many times, students would ask their counselor "What are my chances of passing the three different Required Junior English classes?". The counselors would only be able to give a personal opinion that was based on Sophomore English grades and not a substantiated answer.

The purposes of this research project were to develop a Dietitian Selection Scale (DSS) and to compare the personality profiles of female therapeutic and administrative dietitians. Both purposes were investigated using the California Psychological Inventory (CPI), and the second purpose, the comparison, was also, investigated using the Vocational Preference Inventory (VPI). Holland's (1973) theory of career selection served as the theoretical base for this study.;Subjects for this study were 250 female registered dietitians. The control group consisted of 145 female registered dietitians attending a state meeting in Virginia, while 105 were respondents from a randomized mailing to female registered dietitians …
