There appears to be a need, however, to ascertain the effect of career counseling at the upper elementary grades upon career awareness and development at a later secondary grade. In addition, there is a need to study the effects of individual versus group career guidance at the upper elementary grades with reference to the career choices selected at a later secondary grade.

Counselor Perception Of The Need And Role Of Guidance Consultants In Iowa’S Area Education Agencies, Lauren Simonson

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

While Area Education Agencies (AEA's) have hired consultants in many curriculum areas, few guidance consultants have, at the time of this study, been hired.

The research of literature showed that counselors, at all stages of their career, have need of consultative help. Much of this need arose from an environment in which counselors work. They needed help in reaching their potential. Guidance consultants were seen as a help in reaching this potential.

A survey of Iowa school counselors was made to determine present need and role of guidance consultants. Data was received from one-hundred sixty-four counselors (78 percent of the …

These techniques should not raise side issues of academic skills, but provide a pure measure of interest . The purpose of this research was to develop and test an instrument using photographs as choice stimulants …

Assisting The Re-Entry Woman: The Role Of The Community College, Shirley Jean Nettnin

Masters Theses

The woman who wishes to re-enter the worlds of work and education can be effectively assisted by the community college. The open admissions policies and the availability of counseling for community members make the two year college systems unique. They provide access to in-house opportunities in both academic and job oriented areas. Women appear to view them as being less threatening than a four year institution, while retaining the prestige of college.

Women who wish to alter their life-style are often apprehensive about beginning. They may be realistic and effective in making decisions within a familiar milieu, but unsure and …
