Guidance is the key to successful education. For maximum learning, growth, and development, the "spirit" of guidance must permeate the school board, the administration, and every aspect of the educational program. The subject of this research paper was selected for three reasons. First was the sense of responsibility toward children. It is the writer's firm conviction that without genuine Human Relations atmosphere some child is being deprived of his opportunity for complete development. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between the personality characteristics of counseling trainees and those of a norm group of college students, and the relationships between the personality characteristics of counseling trainees and their performance in counseling interviews. The instruments used to identify personal characteristics were the IPAT Sixteen Personality Factor Test and the IPAT Humor Test of Personality.
