The purpose of this action research project was to determine successful strategies to assist students with challenging behaviors by implementing three interventions to determine if there was a change in the challenging behaviors. The participant was a first grade boy served by an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in a special education self-contained setting. After initial data collection of noncompliance, physical aggression, physical disruption and elopement of a functional behavior plan (Demand Fade-In) with six phases was implemented.
