This project incorporated ideas of a previous study that examined the effects of self-advocacy and conflict resolution training modules on the ability of four high school seniors with mild disabilities to ask for their accommodations (Holzberg, et al.,. 2019). The survey I will be using: Self-Determination/Self-Advocacy Checklist, from the transition planning inventory, will be used for the pre and post assessment in order to measure the increase from student indicated don’t knows to yes. How Does This Benefit Me?: A Case Study Of The Impact Of Long Term Circle Of Friends Participation, Casey Webb

This thesis examines Circle of Friends and the impacts of long term participation (greater than 2 years) in the program. Participants were selected from a Circle of Friends group that met weekly from 2012-2017 in the lower Midwest. There were 5 white female participants ranging in ages of 21-22 at the time of the interviews. Participants completed interview questions focusing on friendship, the COF program, and the impacts it had on them. Interviews were then transcribed and coded. How Local School-Based Speech-Language Pathologists Facilitate Skill Transfer And Generalization For Students Who Stutter, Chloe Strong, Naomi Rodgers

The purpose of this study was to determine what local school-based speech-language pathologists (SLPs) are doing to help their students who stutter generalize target communication skills beyond the therapy room. A survey was distributed to SLPs who work in the Lincoln Public Schools and 28 completed the survey. The survey covered the following topics: career background, self-efficacy in stuttering therapy, frequency of specific clinician practices, and goal setting and evaluating therapeutic progress. Results revealed that while treatment goals are being developed across the multiple domains impacted by stuttering, the majority of transfer activities focus on fluency techniques. This research examines how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the learning of special education students and the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in the United States. The importance of this research is reflected in the unprecedented and novel context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Never at any point in IDEA history have all special education students been simultaneously denied the services that are considered essential for their development and advancement.
