Abstract

This paper explores nine published articles that researched the benefits of Class-wide Peer Tutoring strategies and their benefits on academic and social needs. Six of the studies analyzed how the strategies used enhanced academic performance in the areas of reading fluency and comprehension. The other three studies examined how peer tutoring strategies could enhance student engagement, along with social performance. More research should be conducted due to having a small number of studies and dated research.

Many factors may lead to burnout of special education teachers. Teachers are faced with overwhelming caseloads, student behaviors, job duties, and a history that has been inconsistent with appropriate supports for students with special needs. The studies that were reviewed offered information that directly correlated with burnout. There was much focus on the three areas addressed by the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educator Survey (MBI-ES). The three areas of burnout according to this survey were emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishments. Research has indicated that behavior within the classroom has become a top priority in education. Many students lack the skills necessary to navigate the school climate in a pro-social and constructive way. Studies were selected in order to determine if they supported the importance of self-determination for transition age youth with disabilities. All of the studies indicated that higher self-determination levels and self-determination skills are beneficial to individuals. The intervention-specific studies were especially promising. Students who were taught a specific self-determination curriculum experienced higher self-determination levels, higher quality of life ratings, higher levels of employment, and higher levels of community access. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of self-regulation strategy embedded in reading comprehension strategy intervention for students with reading difficulties. This study investigated the role of self-regulation in reading comprehension intervention by exploring the relations between monitoring, motivation, self-efficacy, and performance in reading comprehension treatment for struggling readers. This study evaluated the effectiveness and efficiency of conventional DTT and progressive DTT when teaching receptive labels to three children all diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The conventional DTT approach used a conventional approach, which is a method of balancing the trial order and location of at least three stimuli in a teaching session. In contrast, the progressive approach DTT allowed the teacher to be flexible and assess in the moment the trial order. Using an alternating treatment design replicated for three sets and three participants, the results showed that progressive DTT was the most efficient and effective procedure for …
