Examining The Effects Of A Self-Study Package On Teachers' Use Of Coincidental Teaching In Preschool Classrooms, Laurie A. Dinnebeil

This investigation examined the effects of a self-study package on three early childhood special education teachers' use of coincidental teaching with preschool children with, or at risk for, disabilities. The results of this investigation showed that all teachers performed better on a posttest than a pretest measure for knowledge of coincidental teaching. Teachers were also able to complete a series of written assignments pertaining to coincidental teaching. Increases in coincidental teaching knowledge, however, were not accompanied by changes in coincidental teaching behavior for two of the three teachers. This project investigated whether a precision teaching method used with learning disabled high school students (grades 9-12) could give them the skills needed to pass a minimum based competency test in the area of local, state and national government. The specific objective of this project was to determine if the use of precision teaching enabled the students to retain the facts needed to pass a competency test required for graduation. A multiple-baseline design across behaviors was used to show the effect of precision teaching in mastering the needed facts. The data from each baseline improved and surpassed the set criteria …

These are problems which any high school student may encounter. Some students may be able to locate the answers immediately. However, the student with a reading disability may be greatly hampered and frustrated because of his lack of general skills in reading and locating information. This student may have difficulty finding facts from common sources of information both in and out of school.
