That students are role-oriented while many schools are still goal-oriented has been demonstrated in this project. Many educators (Goldhammer & Heilman, 1973; Glasser, 1970; Goodlad, 1975; Hansen, 1975; Mink, 1975; and Tyler, 1972) emphasize the importance of students finding their identity and a sense of belongingness. Hoyt (1974), Marland (1971) (1972), and Goldhammer et. al. (1973) see work as an important element in helping youth find a meaningful role for himself in his community.
