Modern education is based on the philosophy that through a functional and practical program the needs of the child will be met. In actual practice, too often ideals are left out of this program. For the purpose of developing these ideals and incorporating them into the functional pragmatic school system to form a program that will come closer to answering the needs of the child, and in the spirit of the philosophy of John Dewey, a man of high ideals and great moral character, this study was written.

This study is concerned with the relationship between defects of articulation in speech and emotional instability in elementary school children. The general procedure followed throughout the study involved a comparison of children having articulatory defects with speech normal children for personal and social adjustment.
