In 2020 a strategic plan began taking shape from UGA Law Library, in support of the emerging strategic plans from the School of Law and the University of Georgia. This five year plan states that, "The Law Library’s overall objective is to support the Law School’s strategic goals by providing exceptional instruction, research, resources, and data analytics. The Law Library supports the University and the Law School in achieving all three strategic directions for the 2020 – 2025 fiscal years."

Print serials collection development has long been a traditional role of academic librarians. However, in the last 20 years, academic libraries’ print serials ownership has declined and online access has begun to take its place, both partially due to concerns with flat or declining budgets as well as lack of space and the need to repurpose this limited space. Pittsburg State University’s Axe Library faces the challenge of balancing its print and electronic serials collections at a university whose programs sometimes do not draw enough on library resources. The Student Assessment and Educational Accountability Act or Arkansas Act 35 represents an ambitious attempt to develop and articulate a strategic plan for ensuring that all students in Arkansas are meeting grade-level standards in reading and math. The legislation describes the types of testing schools must implement each year, how schools and districts should report data, how data should be used to inform staff development, and the sanctions students and schools will face if they fail to meet state standards.
