The COVID-19 pandemic forced many school districts to move all traditional face-to-face classes to distance learning settings. As a result, educators were left with the challenge of keeping students engaged from a remote location. This study determined what instructional strategies 4K-8 educators found most effective in fostering student engagement while using experiential learning in a rural, distance learning setting. 4K-8 educators were asked to complete an anonymous, confidential survey to gather information about their emergency transition to distance learning experiences and what instructional strategies they found most beneficial in fostering student engagement while using experiential learning. Student Perceptions Of Instructor Support In Remote Learning Environments During The Covid-19 Pandemic, Christopher F. Sellas

The present study explored student perceptions of instructor support in remote learning environments during the COVID-19 pandemic to better understand inequities in their learning experiences. Participants self-reported perceptions of instructor support, online learning experiences, mental health symptoms, and wellbeing. Bivariate correlation testing and linear regression modeling were used to analyze the data. Results indicate that students' student-instructor rapport is associated with higher perception of instructor support. Further, higher perceptions of instructor support were associated with significantly lower symptoms of depression, anxiety, and academic-related stress. In the blink of an eye schools across the country closed their doors in March 2020 and teachers were forced to transition from face-to-face instruction within a brick-and-mortar setting to ICT-based remote teaching. Many high school mathematics teachers were accustomed to their students having devices as their schools had established 1:1 computing programs. Even so, not all teachers had fully embraced ICT enhanced instruction in their classrooms. Research has shown that the degree of ICT utilization in a classroom has a strong positive correlation with the comfort level of the teacher.
