As part of my honors requirement in my d/Deaf Education program, I crafted a Travel Trunk for humane education focusing on the area of social justice. Within that, due to my own personal connections, I elected for my Travel Trunk to center the Deaf Community. Using the book Listen, which details Evelyn Glennie's achievements, the project aimed to instill empathy. Students engaged with Glennie's story through a YouTube video and hands-on percussion activities, including wearing noise-canceling headphones. This study is about women of faith who held leadership roles in rural communities. Health And Religious Behaviors In Later Life, Hyunsook Kang, Gina Fe G. Causin

The study is a secondary analysis utilizing data collected at two time periods (2000, 2006) from the Social Capital Community Survey (Saguaro, et al., 2009). The data set is a national survey of community dwelling older adults aged 55-100 (2000, N=3044; 2006, N=2011). To address the research question, three-step hierarchical regressions were conducted. Results indicated that those with better incomes, higher education, were married, Caucasian, were relatively younger, and reported higher frequency of religious attendance reported significantly better health. Although minority status was negatively associated with health, when African American and Hispanic older adults attended religious services frequently, their reported …

Bringing tertiary or higher education to the tribal community in Southern Philippines was very effective. There are more tribal members who are now beginning their higher education degrees. This means that there are more tribal individuals who are in their way to get their higher education degree in two to three years. With their higher education diploma, the members of the tribal community will have better access to higher paying jobs. Heteronormativity is the belief that people fall into distinct and complementary genders with natural roles in life. The idea is that the culture within elementary schools influences the children’s academic, behavioral, and psychological well-being. During this period of a child’s life, heteronormativity develops. Stephen F. Austin State University supports a large education department that offers degrees in teaching, human sciences, human services, and educational leadership through the doctoral level. The university library’s documents collection includes monthly Bulletins published by the Texas State Department of Education from 1918-1946. The documents present an intriguing glimpse at the development of education between the two World Wars. Since they are old and in fragile condition, it was decided that the documents would become an interesting and useful research collection if preserved digitally and made available electronically.
